On Thursday, the earth will be at the nearest point to the sun. It
will be at Perihelion at a point 0.983 Astronomical Units from the
sun.

On July 4, however, the earth will be at Aphelion ie 1.017

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has prohibited the transmission or retransmission of the advertisements of " Lux Cozy Underwear " and " Amul Macho Underwear " on all broadcasting platforms with immediate effect. All channels have also been directed to be more careful in future in selection of content of advertisements and to strictly adhere to the Advertisement Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and Rules framed thereunder in order not to invite further action under the said Act and Rules. The advertisements of â€˜Lux Cozy Underwearâ€™ and â€˜Amul Macho Underwearâ€™, which are being telecast on several television channels, have been considered indecent, vulgar and suggestive and thus violative of Rule 7 (8) of the Advertising Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed thereunder.

Ten new FM radio channels have been commissioned during April 2007 taking the total of private FM radio channels in the country to 68. These include, four FM channels by Adlabs Films Ltd., namely, BIG FM for Bareily, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati and Jalandhar, two of Entertainment Network (India) Ltd. (ENIL) named Radio Mirchi for Patna and Jalandhar, three of Puran Multimedia, namely, Mantra FM for Bareily, Karnal and Jalandhar and MY FM Channel at Jalandhar, belonging to Synergy Media. The Government received a sum of Rs. 7.28 crores as annual fee from the private FM radio broadcasters during the period.

SATYAJIT RAY WORKSHOP AT IIFA WEEKEND

This event will focus on the work of the legendary Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray as part of the IIFA Yorkshire Weekend from 7-10 June 2007.The Workshop will take place at 11:30am on 8 June at the National Media Museum, Bradford. The Films Division produced 24 documentary/short fiction/video films during April-December, 2006. Out of these, 22 films were produced departmentally and two films through independent producers. The Division released 9791 prints of 39 films in the theatrical circuits from 1.4.06 to 30.11.06.
